An army trooper was killed in an exchange of fire with a group of infiltrating militants along the Line of Control in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district on Tuesday, a defence official said.
“A group of militants infiltrated into Indian territory near Chakla forward post of Pallanwala sector of Akhnoor Tehsil,” the official said, adding the troops of 3 Naga regiment challenged and fired on them and heavy exchanges took place. “In the exchange of fire, an army soldier lost his life.”
Army’s spokesman based in Jammu, Col. Mehta said an infiltration attempt took place in Pallanwala sector this morning.
“Fire fight ensued and one trooper died. Search is in progress”, the spokesman said. (GNS)
