An army man was killed after suffering a bullet injury in Drang village of Khag tehsil in Budgam district during cross-firing between militants and army, army said on Monday.

Srinagar-based defense spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said the soldier was killed in cross-fire.

“A patrol party of a local army camp came under fire in Drang village. The fire was returned. However, one army man was killed in cross-fire,” he said.

The army man, according to reports, received a bullet injury in his thigh during a late-night search operation in Drung village.

“He was rushed to PHC Khag where from he was referred to JVC Srinagar where doctors declared him as brought dead.”

The deceased was identified as Subedar Rajkumar of 53 Rashtriya Rifles stationed at Drang.
