A teenage boy was beaten up by the army soon after a firing incident was reported from south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.

Official sources said that soon after the attack on army’s 34 RR party at Chak-e- Cholan by militants, the contingent of army during a search in orchards at Check chollen and Padderpora Shopian, a teenager identified as Irfan Ahmad Thokar 19, son of Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Padderpora, was allegedly caught near an orchard and thrashed by the army personnel.

Thokar was soon rushed to PHC Behibagh Kulgam for the treatment where he is said to be stable now. Earlier, militants fired upon an army party in Chak-e- Cholan Shopian, however, there was no reports of any loss.

Meanwhile, police said that they have no information regarding the incident but they will ascertain the facts.

When contacted an army spokesperson Rajesh Kallia he denied all the allegations and said: “we have not thrashed anybody from the area.”
