With the Army refusing the development of 1000 kanal industrial land at Ompora Budgam, the state government here Saturday said that it will take the issue with the Union Defence ministry.
“We have around 1000 Kanal Industrial land situated at Ompora Budgam. But the Army is rejecting its development as their ammunition depot is situated near the land. Now we have decided to raise the issue with the Defence minister for his immediate intervention into the matter,” Industries and commerce minister Chandar Prakash Ganga told KNS.
He said that Army must understand that they have set up ammunition Depot after this Industrial Estate was already established by the government. “Army must have taken the government on board before setting up the ammunition depot in this area. I can say that after the cabinet meeting the state government will write to the Defence ministry to settle the issue as soon as possible,” the minister said.
The Minister said that the government is fully committed to provide congenial atmosphere for industrial growth. “The government wants the youth to become self-sufficient. New industries are coming up in the state which would directly benefit the state, generate employment and boost the industrial growth,” he said.
The minister added that there are various schemes launched by the centre and the state government to provide financial support to the entrepreneurs who are interested in setting up of industrial units in the state.
Meanwhile General Manger SIDCO Ajaz Ahmad, he agreed that there is dispute between the state government and the Army over the 1000 Kanal land situated at Ompora Budgam. “ Yes SIDCO had taken over 1000 Kanal land at Ompora Budgam in the year 1997.Thoug we had started to develop the land for the industrial purpose and expended around nine crore but home ministry and Army objected the project to proceed anymore,” he said.
He added that the Army had proposed to provide 900 meters out of 1000 kanal in order to avoid any disturbance in the Air traffic and ammunition depot.
