In Poonch district of Jammu region, majority of Wakf land is under the illegal occupation of army. The figures were revealed in state assembly today while answering the question asked by lawmaker Ejaz Ahmad Khan.
As per the details, out of 379.01 kannals of land illegally occupied, 330 kannals is held by the army. The matter as per the government was taken up by state with the ministry of defense, on December 24, 2011, but till date neither the land has been vacated by any of the occupant party nor have the government forces paid rent to the Wakf board.
