Army Recover Body of ‘Unidentified Militant’ Near LoC

A body of “unidentified militant” was recovered near the Line of Control in frontier district of Kupwara by Army last evening, police said today.

The body was found by army’s 41 RR during a search operation going on in forest areas of Trumnad and Kumkadi in Safawali sector near the Line of Control (LoC) since past two days, police said, “After conducting searches in the vast forest areas, the army in the evening recovered the body along with a rifle from a deep gorge.”

The body was taken to the army’s 41 RR headquarter and was later handed over to concerned police station for legal formalities.

Police said that the cause of death was yet to be ascertained, however, the initial investigations revealed that the “militant” might had slipped during heavy rains last week and fallen into the gorge. “A case has been registered and further investigations have been taken up.”
