SRINAGAR: After a car was washed away in Marau River bewr Nawapachi village of Khistwar district on tuesday the Indian army reached the spot and rescued two people from drowning as they were stranded in their vehicle itself.

Sajid Ahmad Mir, a resident of Anantnag, and Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Ramban, were working on the river bank in the JCB when it got washed away and submerged.

With the fast current of river, the JCB got washed away for around 500 meters downstream.

As per a report published in India Today, “On receiving this information, an army column from Nawapachi post rushed to the spot and the troops launched a rescue operation with help from police and local residents.”

Further it has been stated that “after 90 minutes of efforts, they were able to bring out the duo alive from the submerged vehicle.”
