Army continued siege and search operation at Lolab in Kupwara district for the third consecutive day Friday, to track down the militants involved in an ambush on an Army patrol, which left a trooper dead on Wednesday morning.

The troops from at least six units of the army’s Kilo Force were carrying out searches in the vast forest areas of Kawari Khurahama in Lolab areas of the district, sources said.

“We suspect that one militant might have been injured in the gunfight on Wednesday morning, so the searches in the area are continuing,” an Army officer is reportedly said.

Five militants were killed on Tuesday, who according to defense sources had infiltrated and a day after militants ambushed army petrol killing a trooper.

Defense sources said that many militants have infiltrated in Kupwara area and the forces have started a massive operation against them.
