SRINAGAR: The District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir on Monday chaired a meeting of the officers to discuss the arrangements to be put in place for the celebrations of Eid-i-Milaad-un-Nabi (SAW) at DC Office Anantnag, in south Kashmir.

The spokesman said that availability of essential commodities including rice, atta, LPG & kerosene, rates of eatables including the mutton, chicken and bakery items, matters related to the transport arrangements, traffic management, sanitation in and around shrines, Mosques and Eid Gahs,  ambulance services, uninterrupted power and water supply and proper functioning of street lights were discussed threadbare in the meeting.

The DDC stressed to ensure the availability of all the requisite  services and facilities at the shrines & mosques of Khiram, Kabamarg, Aishmuqam, Seer Hamdan and Khankah – e – Faiz Panah ,Dooru. The ARTO, Anantnag was directed to ensure the availability of transport services to & fro for the said places for the devotees. The CEO, MC Anantnag and the EOs of Municipal Committees were instructed to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation around the centrally located mosques, Eid Gahs, shrines.

The DDC asked the officers to conduct intensive market checking, curb profiteering and other illegal trade practices besides ensuring that the shopkeepers display rate lists across the district prominently. He asked the officer to keep close vigil on the stock and supply position of rations, other essentials and liaise with AD FCS&CA in case of any dearth.

Chief Medical Officer was instructed to keep ambulance services in a state of readiness along with doctors and paramedical staff. The Fire & Emergency Services department will ensure availability of fire tenders. Likewise, PDD and PHE departments were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during the holy days. The PHE authorities were asked to ensure water tanker services in the areas where there is scarcity of water.  The traffic authorities were asked to draft a traffic plan in consultation with police and MVD Anantnag to ensure hassle free traffic movement.

AD FCS&CA informed the meeting that buffer stocks of LPG cylinders, rice, atta and other commodities have been made available in view of the Milad. The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Anantnag informed the meeting that 1.5 lac poultry birds will be made available for sale in view of the Milad at Khiram, Aishmuqam, Kabamarg,  Bijbehara, Seer Hamdan and Anantnag town by the Department of Animal Husbandry Anantnag.

Besides ADC Anantnag, all the district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
