National Conference leaders on Saturday took out a protest march in Srinagar against the petitions challenging Article 35 (A) and attempts to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, the protest demonstration was led by the National Conference General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar. The protest was later joined by several leaders of the party.

Reports said that leaders demanded to quash the petitions filed in the Supreme Court against the special status (Article 35-A) of Jammu and Kashmir.

Article 35A of the Indian Constitution is an article that empowers the Jammu and Kashmir state’s legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents
