SRINAGAR: Pradesh Congress Committee president, Tariq Hamid Karra, said on Friday that the demand for the restoration of Article 370 was neither raised in the resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, nor is there any mention of it.
Karra aid that the party had already clarified its stance on the issue when the JK Assembly passed the resolution.
“We have already stated that the only demand left after the Supreme Court’s verdict on Article 370 is statehood,” he said.
Karra reiterated that the demand for restoring Article 370 was not included in the resolution and that there was no mention of it.
Representing the Central Shalteng segment, Karra accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misrepresenting facts for political gain.
“Despite our clear position, the BJP is distorting facts during the election campaign,” he remarked.
Regarding a recent statement by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Karra noted that Kharge had asked the BJP to clarify who has advocated for reinstating Article 370. (KNO)
