In an interview with ANI, the Prime Minister mentioned that the removal of Article 370 has fostered unity and increased tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. He said Article 370 was maintained for the benefit of a few families, and its removal has led to a stronger sense of belonging among the people.

The Modi government abrogated Article 370 in August 2019, soon after beginning its second term. The Prime Minister highlighted the positive reception of G20 summit delegates in Kashmir.

Modi noted that government decisions are made with strategic planning and mentioned the temporary internet shutdowns were necessary for security but have not been required for the past five years.

Recent Lok Sabha elections in Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag-Rajouri constituencies saw high voter turnout.

Srinagar recorded 38.49 percent, Baramulla 59.1 percent, and Anantnag-Rajouri 51.35 percent polling as of April 25. These were the first elections after the abrogation of Article 370
