SRINAGAR: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) of Baramulla has suspended eleven driving licenses, while seventeen license holders have been issued show cause notices for violating the Motor Vehicle Act. Parents have been cautioned against hiring private cabs that do not meet safety standards for transporting their children to school.
During an enforcement operation, an official also warned private vehicle owners about transporting school students without proper documentation and using CNG in their vehicles, which could lead to accidents.
An official said that the enforcement operation took place at Chinar crossing in the outskirts of Sopore and was led by ARTO Muazzam Ali.
Eleven driving licenses were suspended during the operation, and seventeen individuals received show cause notices for their violations.
“People have been committing traffic violations, which is unacceptable. These operations should serve as a wake-up call for them to adhere to the rules and regulations outlined in the Motor Vehicle Act,” said the official.
Speaking to KNO, Muazzam Ali, ARTO Baramulla, mentioned that violators were counseled and warned about strict action against breaking traffic rules during the operation.
He advised parents not to hire private cabs that lack safety standards and use CNG in their vehicles, which could lead to accidents.
“Avoid speeding, wear seat belts, refrain from using mobile phones while driving, and diligently follow other traffic rules,” urged the ARTO. Ali emphasized the importance of people understanding their responsibilities, observing traffic norms, and adhering to road safety regulations when traveling.
Notably, a few days ago, ARTO seized three vehicles for violating rules, responding to multiple complaints against private cab drivers involved in transporting passengers and school students without proper documentation. (KNO)
