SRINAGAR: With a strong possibility that the month-long lockdown spilling over to June, the Covid19 virus is exhibiting low infection numbers as the morbidity is gradually going down. For the last few days, the mortality was showing a gradual fall but today it showed an increase.

In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir lost 56 people as fresh 2803 cases were detected across 20 districts of the erstwhile state.

Kashmir lost 26 citizens and Jammu 30in the last 24 hours. Jammu city’s Covid19 casualties reached 1026.

But what is rarely being seen is that more people return home from hospitals fully recovered than the new tally of infections. In the last 24 hours, as many as 3637 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 41382. The recoveries included 1741 cases in Jammu and 1896 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3795 people including 1957 in Kashmir and 1838 in Jammu.

As many as 13 took place in Jammu city and five in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said. The overall death toll of Jammu city is now 1026, which is higher if compared to Srinagar city’s 760 deaths in the Covid19, so far.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost six citizens each in Baramulla, four each in Budgam and Anantnag, two each in Pulwama, Kulgam and Bandipore and one in Kupwara.

Apart from 13 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost eight citizens in Rajouri, two each in Udhampur and Samba, and one each in Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Reasi.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 2803 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 382. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 320 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 1794 cases against 1009 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 204 from Baramulla, 223 from Budgam, 179 from Pulwama, 228 from Kupwara, 207 from Anantnag, 57 from Bandipora, 168 from Ganderbal, 94 from Kulgam, and 52 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 71, Rajouri 107, Doda 82, Kathua 79, Samba 71, Kishtwar 30, Poonch 92, Ramban 77, and Reasi 80.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 41382 active cases, which includes 25240 in Kashmir 16142 in Jammu.
