SRINAGAR: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police died after collapsing while on duty in the Mawer area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.
Officials said the ASI suddenly collapsed while performing his duties in Mawer and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Preliminary reports suggest that the officer suffered a cardiac arrest, although the exact cause of death will be confirmed after completion of the necessary medico-legal formalities.
The identity of the deceased had not been officially disclosed till the filing of this report. Police have initiated proceedings in the matter. (KNO)
