Expressing serious concern over the ailing condition of Dr Qasim Faktoo, Dukhtaran-e-Milat (DeM) Chairperson Asiya Andrabi Thursday stated that 60 per cent of his eye sight has been damaged due to the negligence of authorities.
The DeM Chairperson stated further that Faktoo should have been shifted to the hospital a long time ago but the negligent attitude of the jail authorities has worsened the health of Faktoo due to which is suffering from three major aliments including Glaucoma. “His left eyesight is 60 percent damaged and his right eye is getting affected due to the dreadful disease.”
Asiya who is wife of Dr. Faktoo, stated further that if her husband is shifted back to jail, his condition will deteriorate further and that the authorities have showed negligence for the early treatment of Dr. Qasim. “If there would have been the treatement on time, his condition would have been better but the continuous reluctance shown by the government resulted into the disaster for us.”
“He has been shifted to hospital only because the court interfered into the matter otherwise the police was in continuous denial of shifting Dr. Qasim to hospital,” said Asiya, adding her husband is being treated in the department of gastro logy, orthopedics and ophthalmology.
Pertinently, the Huriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani had warmed authorities of the ‘dire’ consequences if negligence is shown in the treatment of Dr.Qasim. Faktoo.
