SRINAGAR: Candidates seeking to apply for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) in the Public Works (R&B) and Jal Shakti Departments have urged the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) to extend the application deadline, citing technical and situational hindrances.
The last date for submitting applications under Advertisement Notification No. 03 of 2025, dated April 24, is June 16. However, aspirants applying under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category say they have been unable to generate mandatory UDID disability certificates due to the ongoing outage of the UDID portal since June 6.
Candidates claim that the portal’s non-functionality has left them unable to apply under the reserved category. “The UDID portal is still down, and we are stuck. We are desperately waiting for it to resume. There are at least a dozen of us facing this issue,” said one aspirant, requesting anonymity.
In addition to the UDID portal outage, applicants also pointed to intermittent disruptions in the JKSSB website, reportedly caused by heightened regional tensions between India and Pakistan in the past week. These technical and environmental factors, they argue, have made it difficult for many candidates to complete the application process in time.
Applicants have submitted requests to the JKSSB for a short extension to the deadline until the UDID portal becomes operational. As of now, there has been no official response from JKSSB regarding the matter.
