SRINAGAR: Police have arrested a suspect involved in an attack on a student with a sharp object at Qamariya Park, Ganderbal.

On Thursday, at approximately 15:30 hrs, a scuffle erupted between two individuals at Qamariya Park, Ganderbal. During the altercation, Mohd Irfan, a student and son of Ab Hamid Sheikh from Saloora, Ganderbal, sustained injuries when he was assaulted by another person with a sharp object/thread cutter.

The injured party was swiftly transported to District Hospital Ganderbal for immediate medical attention.

Soon, a police team arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that Abrar Ahmad Parray, son of Mohd Ismail Parray and a resident of Rangil Nagbal, was responsible for the attack on the victim before fleeing from the area. Consequently, a case (FIR No. 271/2023) was registered in PS Ganderbal under the relevant sections of the law.

Furthermore, a dedicated police team was assembled to investigate the case. After some efforts, the police apprehended the accused, Abrar Ahmad Parray, near Nagbal Chowk, in the vicinity of a petrol pump. Subsequent investigations unveiled that the altercation had arisen due to a romantic involvement with the same girl (identity withheld). Both parties disclosed that their heated argument escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in the victim’s injuries.
