Chief Judicial Magistrate Islamabad Friday issued non-bailable warrants against SHO Islamabad, Ayaz Geelani and Sub-Inspector Gowhar Ahmed Malla in a case related to the manhandling of legislator Er Rasheed.

Incumbent Langate legislator Er Rasheed had filed a complaint in the court of law against Islamabad police wherein he had said that on December 2, 2016 a police party from Islamabad not only abused him but he was also manhandled despite being the representative of the people.

He had mentioned the names of the police officers involved in the act.

The case came up for hearing on Friday while Advocate Sana, the counsel for Er Rasheed pleaded before the court that neither the police department has taken any action against the accused police officers nor is police allowing the free movement of his client.

She argued that if Rasheed despite being a public representative is deprived of his rights and thrashed day in and day out, how can he speak for the rights of a common man?

Chief Judicial Magistrate Islamabad took cognizance of accused police officers for their absence in the court and issued non-bailable warrants against SHO Islamabad, Ayaz Geelani and Sub-Inspector Gowhar Malla. The court directed SSP Islamabad to execute the order. The case has been listed for next hearing on May 26 this month.
