The Youth Services and Sports officials have filed a complaint with the National School Games Federation after a group of students from New Delhi tried to assault some Jammu and Kashmir students when the later managed to clinch some medals in different categories of games including martial arts and judo.

More than 350 school children from Jammu and Kashmir have been participating in National School games at different venues in India’s capital New Delhi. The students from the State have brought laurels after clinching many gold, silver and bronze medals.

An official from Youth Services and Sports from New Delhi told local news agency CNS that after clinching some medals, students from Jammu and Kashmir in excitement raised pro-state slogans while the rival teams confronted them and tried to assault some of the students. “There was scuffle. The reaction from Delhi students was not justified. We lodged a complaint with the National School Games Federation about the incident which assured probe and safety of the students from Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
