SRINAGAR: MLA Mehraj Malik created a commotion in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday after Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather stopped him from raising a supplementary question on the amnesty granted on electricity bills.
Rather directed Malik to return to his seat and did not permit him to put the supplementary question. Malik objected to the Speaker’s decision and said in the House, “Assembly is not anybody’s jageer.”
As the disruption continued, the Speaker warned Malik to behave properly or face action.
Rather later told the House that a committee had already decided that supplementary questions could be raised only by members who had submitted the original question.
Referring to the incident, Rather said Malik had not behaved properly and added that he had exercised restraint during the exchange.
