As soon as the business resumed in the Lower House of J&K Legislature on Thursday, Opposition members led by Congress walked into the Well.

The members resorted to intense sloganeering seeking redressal of concerns pertaining to reserved category people. “Jo Hum Say Takraa Ye Ga, Choor Choor Ho Jaye Ga,”they said.

The Congress members were joined by ruling right wing BJP lawmakers and its ally PDP, and a few from National Conference.

Meanwhile, Treasury Benches are busy responding to questions by some Congress members including Vikar Rasool.

The protesting opposition and ruling members are seeking of High Court order pertaining to promotions in reserved category.

Responding to concerns from protesting members, Minister Ab Haq Khan told the house that section 6 of Reservation Act was set aside by High Court. “First it was single bench, then division and later the matter went to Supreme Court,” he said.

Haq further said that three writ petitions have been submitted in Supreme Court. “Let SC give its verdict, we will follow.”

The PDP Minister expressed his government’s “inability to do anything until then”.

The protesting lawmakers haled a sit-in inside the Well and later staged a Walk Out.
