Ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Batamaloo Lawmaker Wednesday reiterated his demand and asked Chief Minister to relocate the paramilitary CRPF camp from HMT area of his assembly segment.

Sheikh Noor Mohammad, who represents Batamaloo in Lower House of the J&K Legislature, was participating in the debate over grants to departments including Home working under CM.

“Two youth have fell to bullets from this CRPF camp,” MLA Batamaloo told the house, “one in 2010 and one in 2015 when PM was on Kashmir visit.”

Notably, a youth named Suhail was killed by forces in 2010 during civil uprising and another engineering student, Gowhar Nazir Dar, was killed in forces firing on the evening of November 07, 2015 when Narendra Modi was in summer capital in the day.

The CRPF housed inside a defunct Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) has been “cause of concern” for the locals of the area, the Lawmaker told the house. “The HMT factory is almost dead now and there is reason that the camp must be relocated,” he said.

He said because of the CRPF personnel people of the area are suffering.

Pertinent to mention here,. The MLA Batamaloo had raised this issue in Srinagar DDB which was chaired by Ms Mufti. Directions were passed to Kashmir Police chief that the camp be relocated. However, in a written reply at the start of the on-going 2016-17 Budget Session, the Home department said, “no alternate land was available for shifting the camp.”

Meanwhile, the MLA asked government to appoint a Principal for the JVC Medical College Bemina.

He impressed upon government to include Hokersar in the Tourism map for development so that local area is benefitted.

Earlier in the day during Question Hour, the MLA raised the issue of underground drainage system in Gund Hassi Bhat and Laway Pora areas of his constituency.

Government responded that left out areas will be taken up under union government funded AMRUT scheme.
