Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday faced awkward position Opposition National Conference (NC) alleged in the Lower House that ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was “using Ch Zulfikar Ali in implementing anti-people policies”.

Speaking during the debate on grants to Consumer Affairs and Distribution Department, NC’s Khanyar Lawmaker, Ali Mohammad Sagar criticised the government for implementing National Food Security Act (NFSA) in J&K.

“It is anti-people and poor people have been left hungry,” Sagar said. He ridiculed the government for calling NFSA implementation as “land mark decision”. “You changed statements after statement about the NFSA,” Sagar told CAPD Minister who is listening to the debate.

Sagar said it (changing statements) was “astonishing”, “you government has done only one thing: U-Turns. Be it Sainik Colony, KP townships or New Industrial Policy.”

Observing that Ch Zulfikar Ali is a young and energetic politicians, Sagar told the minister, “you have to work a lot; you are young but your government is playing with you and your career.”

Sagar told the house that father of incumbent was member of National Conference. “You too tried,” Sagar told Zulfikar, “but you couldn’t get mandate so you went to PDP who could see a young politician in you.”

“But,” Sagar told Zulfikar, “I’m telling you, PDP and BJP is playing with your career as people are suffering because of NFSA.”

“PDP and BJP are calling shots using your shoulder,” the NC lawmaker said, “and when people ask who has implemented, this government names you (Ch Zulfikar Ali).”

Meanwhile, Law students of University of Kashmir are watching proceedings of Lower House which is discussing grants to CAPD.
