As the state legislature met early Saturday for the Autumn session, the maiden sitting was dedicated to obituary references, as is the tradition. The house is not going to transact any other business for the day.
The Speaker, Kavinder Gupta, initiated the proceedings by paying homage to Dr A P J Abul Kalam, former president of India.
Nine others who passed away in last six months include Ghulam Rasool Kar, ex-Congress minister; Ghulam Mohammad, ex-minister; Abdul Gani Shah (Veeri), ex-minister; Khawaja Sonaullah Dar, ex-minister; Janak Raj Gupta, ex-deputy speaker; Ghulam Mohammad Misgar, ex-MLC; Vir Chand Mahasha, ex-MLC; Farida Mir, ex-MLC and Mian Jalal-Ud-Din, ex-Secretary legislative Assembly.
With speakers’ homage over, all the party leaders are expected to participate in the proceedings of the house.
