SRINAGAR

Speaking in the state assembly, President Awami Itehad Party (AIP) and MLA Langate Er Rashid reiterated his demand of abolishing and disbanding VDCs to ensure communal harmony between various communities in Jammu region.

When Jammu based MLAs today raised issues pertaining to law and order in Rajouri and Kishtwar, Er Rashid said “when government itself confesses of creating more than 35,000 VDC and DDC members, majority of whom belong to Hindu community and gives them arms and ammunition, how can it expect communal harmony?”

Rashid said “fact of the matter and bitter truth is that neither state govt. nor center is ready to trust Muslims anywhere in the state and thus using Hindu community to keep them always under threat, especially in Jammu region.”

He said that it is unfortunate that at the time of Kishtwar incidents both PDP and NC were shedding crocodile tears against VDCs and demanded their disbanding but in the assembly none of these two parties has ever spoken even a single word against the brutal atrocities of VDCs. He said that both these parties say something in the assembly and change their stance when they go to public meetings.

Rashid challenged both these parties and asked them not ‘try to befool people of J&K’. “They want Kashmiris to vote for them but at the same time ensure that their masters in New Delhi don’t get annoyed by taking their speeches otherwise.”

Commenting on the debate over VK Singh’s revelations, he said that the debate has send a bad and sad massage that institution of the assembly is trying every tactics good or bad to threaten Gen. VK Singh so that he may not unmask more hidden honorable.

Elaborating he said, “it was clear that from Omer Abdullah to Mehbooba Mufti and from G M Saroori to Muzaffar Hussain Beigh everybody was just trying to prove Gh. Hassan Mir and others innocent.”

He alleged that Dr Mustafa Kamal tried to speak some truth but ‘it was more of his personal enmity with Gh Hassan Mir rather than saying something for the sake of truth’.

He said that CM Omer Abdullah was ‘absolutely apologetic and cautious in his speech and rather than focusing on exposing the whole scam, he was trying to portrait himself and all other MLAs as well wishers of army and was defensive all the way’

Rashid said that it was for the first time during last five years that NC and PDP top leaders seemed to be pleading in one direction over some issue by trying to separate VK Singh’s revelations from the army, forgetting that what so ever Gen VK Singh had revealed was done by him as the army chief not as an individual and both the parties were pleading as if Gh Hassan Mir was an innocent and a victim of some conspiracy.
