Deputy Speaker, Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi, on Thursday ordered the enquiry into the alleged manhandling of independent Legislator and MLA Langate Er Rasheed by some civilian when he was marshalled out of the house.
Rasheed was marshalled out of the house on January 16 at the direction of Gurezi after Rasheed and NC MLA Mohammad Akbar Lone were engaged in a verbal duel.
Rasheed had alleged that he was thrashed by Marshalls and was kicked by some “non-marshalls in his belly”.
Gurezi directed the Secretary legislative assembly to furnish the enquiry report within two days and submit it in the house.
The deputy Speaker’s direction came after ruling PDP legislator from Kokernag Adbul Rahim Rather demanded a time-bound inquiry into the manhandling of legislator Er Rashid by some civilian as soon he was marshalled out of the house.
Later Parliamentary affairs and Revenue Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri urged him to join Assembly proceedings “for the interest of his people”.
