Jammu and Kashmir Wakaf board has a total of 921 employees with 327 as contractual/consolidated but during last financial year, it spent more than what it actually generated from its resources.

In a written response to Congress Lawmaker, Gh Nabi Monga in Upper House of J&K Legislature, Minister in charge for Haj and Auqaf Tuesday informed house that “no Wakaf land is under illegal occupation”  of different departments and individuals including army in Jammu and Kashmir.

The government said that the total income from all the resources of Wakaf in state is Rs 2328.10 lakh, however, the total expenditure of the autonomous body is Rs 20 lakh more than that. “Total expenditure incurred for the year 2015-16 has been Rs 2348.42 lakh,” the response said.

The Wakaf is fighting a total of 42 cases in J&K Courts, the government said.
