SRINAGAR: At least 25 sheep were killed after lightning struck a flock during a sudden thunderstorm in the Karaknaar area of Gulmarg on Saturday, reports said.
The sheep were grazing in the higher reaches of the Gulmarg hills when the weather changed abruptly in the afternoon, with heavy thunder and lightning reported in the area.
According to reports, the shepherd accompanying the flock said the lightning strike killed more than two dozen sheep at the spot.
The incident occurred as several parts of the Kashmir Valley, particularly the upper reaches, experienced a sudden spell of rain and snowfall, accompanied by a drop in temperatures.
