Paying tributes to all those Sikhs who were butchered in operation blue star by the Indian army, independent leader and MLA Langate Er Rasheed on Thursday said that June 1st will always be remembered as the darkest day in India’s history.

The spokesman said the attack on the golden temple, 34 years ago which started on June 1, was one of the worst tragedies and shameful episodes what took place in India after achieving freedom from Britishers in 1947. It was the same mindset which planned an attack on the golden temple and later ensured demolishing of Babri Masjid.

He said that not only Sant Jarnail Singh Bindrawala but hundreds of Sikhs including men women and children were butchered mercilessly inside the temple and this all followed by atrocities on the Sikh community everywhere.

Rasheed said that the so-called secular system has failed not only to give justice to the victims of operation blue star but also encouraged the mass killings of  Sikhs in Delhi and elsewhere following assassination of Indra Gandhi. He said “Many including police officers, politicians and bureaucrats who orchestrated the massacres are roaming free even after 34 years have passed since the shameful incident happened. “Not that justice was denied but the accused Congress leaders, including Jagdish Titler etc, were rewarded with power by the Congress leadership which adds to the pain of the ill-fated community that is yet awaiting justice.
