Reacting to an attack on JNU student leader Umar Khalid on Monday, former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the attack on Umar Khalid was due to a relentless hate campaign against him in the social and mainstream media.

Taking to his widely followed twitter handle Omar wrote: “Wage a motivated hate campaign against individuals and sooner or later someone will feel emboldened enough to take the law into their own hands. The attack on @UmarKhalidJNU is a direct result of the relentless hate campaign using both social and mainstream media. Glad he’s well.”

Khalid according to reports was attacked by some unidentified men near Parliament in New Delhi, but he escaped unhurt.
