According to the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar, all food business operators of district Srinagar are asked to obtain license/registration from the office of Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Bemina otherwise action as per the relevant provisions of food safety and standard act shall be initiated against them.
It is also informed that to manufacture, sell, store, distribute or import any food article without license is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months and also with a fine which may extend to five lakhs, an official spokesperson said Thursday evening.
“Fee structure for grant of registration to food business operators having annual turnover up to 12 lakh is Rs 100, while as food license for manufacture/miller is Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3000 respectively for production of above one MT and below one MT,” the spokesperson said. “For 3 Star and above hotels license fee has been fixed as Rs 5000 and Rs 2000 for all food service providers including restaurant/boarding houses, canteens, food vendors like Dhaba Wallas etc.”
