Authorities ‘Ban’ Seerat Conference Organized by Geelani

Strongly condemning the banning of Seerat Conference in Naiedkhai Hajan, detaining a common youth Irfan Ahmad Khan under the black law PSA in Islamabad and arrest of dozens of youth of Bijbehara, Chairperson Hurriyat (g) Syed Ali Geelani Monday said that the Mufti government has “practically turned the Jammu & Kashmir into a prison and the police have been given a free hand to suppress the peaceful voices of the people”.

“To retain the power, PDP is keenly following the RSS agenda and this situation has put the identity of the Muslims of the state on serious risk,” he said.

“The Seerat Conferences in this month of Rabi-ul-Awal are held everywhere in Kashmir and the word and there is no justification in banning these programs but the Sonawari police exhibited the hooliganism and banned the proposed Seerat Conference at Naiedkhai Hajan and prevented the participants to reach the program venue,” he said.

Geelani said that besides “it being an act of state terrorism, this police action is also the interference into the religious affairs and it will not be tolerated in any way”.

Hurriyat (g) chief strongly condemned the slapping of PSA over a Tehreek-e-Hurriyat affiliate Irfan Ahmad Khan of Islamabad and said that the entire state machinery has “started a war with the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and are harassing and prosecuting the political activists belonging to this organization in every possible ways. Our organization is not been given any kind of political space in the state”.

He said, “this kind of government policies are increasing the political uncertainty and instability in the state and the common people are feeling suffocation here.”

He also condemned the detention of dozens of youths in Bijbehara and demanded their immediate release.

Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is organizing Seerat conference on Dec 23.

A daylong “Seerat Conference” is being held on 23 December, Wednesday 2015 at Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Hyderpora Head office.

The seminar will start at 11:00 am and will last till afternoon.

The seminar will be presided over by its Syed Ali Geelani and besides him many other prominent speakers will also shed light over the character and teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

All the pro-freedom people are being invited to attend the proposed seminar.
