SRINAGAR: Authorities have issued a public advisory, urging residents and tourists to stay away from the Kishanganga River and its adjoining reservoir areas due to a surge in summer inflow.
According to the advisory, the water levels in the river and reservoir are expected to rise significantly in the coming days. Officials warned that sudden increases in inflow may require the release of water through spillway gates, which could pose serious risks to people in surrounding areas.
“Warning sirens will be sounded before any water release,” the advisory stated, urging people to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
Residents living near the riverbanks and tourists visiting the region have been specifically advised to avoid venturing close to the water to prevent accidents or emergencies. (JKNS)
