Authorities are likely to exhume the body of a Langate man killed during a gunfight with the government forces in Rafiabad forests on August 9 after his DNA test matched with his family was found positive.
A top police source informed Kashmir Life, “Preliminary investigation suggests the body belongs to Langate youth. The exhumation will start once orders from the district authorities are received. But most likely he will be exhumed today evening. All the arrangements have been made for his burial at Langate.”
All the five militants killed in the gunfight were buried at Hamam in Rafiabad forests. After the burial was over, government forces released pictured of the killed militants but a Langate family claimed one among them was their missing son, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir.
Mir had left his home on August 5 but did not return. A formal missing report was filed by the family members in the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, the authorities have suspended the internet service in the Handwara area as the last report came in.
