SRINAGAR: Officials from Estates Department sealed the Kashmir Times bureau office in Srinagar’s Press Colony on Monday afternoon. The newspaper editor said the administration skipped “due process” and it was an act of vendetta.

“Today, Estates Deptt locked our office without any due process of cancellation & eviction, same way as I was evicted from a flat in Jammu, where my belongings including valuables were handed over to ‘new allottee’,” the newspaper editor Anuradha Bhasin wrote on social media. “Vendetta for speaking out! No due process followed. How peevish!”

This was the second attempt involving Kashmir Times. Last month, one flat allotted to the newspaper in Jammu was ceased and handed over to a person.

The newspaper has already been blacklisted from publishing government advertisements. The Jammu based newspaper was publishing a Srinagar edition for last many years and it has ceased its publication early this year.
