SRINAGAR: The District Administration in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Monday sealed and seized an allegedly unregistered Unani and Ayurvedic clinic operating from the Post Office building in Kulgam town during a joint inspection carried out by multiple departments.
Officials said the action was taken following complaints from the public regarding the functioning of the clinic. A joint team comprising officials from the Tehsildar’s Office, AYUSH Department, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Drug Inspector conducted a raid on the premises.
During the inspection, the team reportedly found that the clinic was operating without valid registration and that the individual claiming to be a doctor allegedly did not possess the required medical qualifications or degree.
The authorities sealed the clinic on the spot and seized a large quantity of medicines and other related material from the premises as part of the investigation.
An official associated with the operation said the administration acted promptly after receiving complaints from locals regarding the clinic’s activities.
“We received complaints regarding the functioning of the clinic, following which a joint team conducted the inspection and sealed the premises. Medicines and other material have also been taken into custody as evidence,” the official said.
Further investigation into the matter has been taken up by the concerned authorities. (KNC)
