Mobile Internet service was suspended in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday following a militant attack on a police guard in Wadwan village.

The services were shut down soon after the attack “as a precautionary measure” to avoid any untoward incident.

Earlier, a cop was injured in a militant attack on a Police post at Wadwan area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

A policeman was injured critically after militants on Friday afternoon attacked a police post guarding minority community at Wadwan area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The slain policeman was identified as Shamim Ahmad (belt no. 834) a resident of Yaripora village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Following the attack, clashes were also reported between the youth and the government forces from Wadwan village of district Budgam resulting in injuries to a youth.

the youth namely Adil Farooq Mir son of Farooq Mir resident of Galvanpora, Budgam suffered a bullet wound in his right thigh.

Mir was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.
