SRINAGAR: The District Administration in Bandipora has issued an emergency public advisory after continuous heavy rainfall caused a rapid rise in the water levels of the Madumatti River, posing a serious threat to nearby communities.
In a statement released Thursday, officials warned residents to remain vigilant and strictly avoid all riverbanks and nearby water bodies. “Failure to follow these instructions may endanger lives,” the advisory stated.
Authorities are particularly urging families to keep children and the elderly away from the river. No visits or attempts to cross water bodies should be made under any circumstances, they added.
Citizens are asked to fully cooperate with safety directives and await further instructions from local authorities.
