Reacting to the resolution adopted by the Legislative Council last on Wednesday, Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed on Friday asked the government and opposition to “clear their stand.” He wanted them to choose either of the two events for celebrations and memory: the martyr’s day of July 13 or the Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday on September 23.

On Saturday the legislative council of the state assembly passed a resolution to celebrate the autocrat Hari Singh’s birthday as a holiday. Initiated by BJP member and Hari Singh’s grandson Ajatshatru Singh, the move was supported by his brother, from PDP, Vikramadatiya Singh and many others from the two parties.

“How can we praise Sheikh Sahab and Maharaja at the same time,” Radsheed asked the Hoius. “Tell us with whom you are.”

While asking National Conference to come clear on the resolution he said that, we should not celebrate 13 July as martyr’s day. Rashid said Devinder Singh Rana has supported the resolution.

But National Conference leader, Akbar Lone said his party is not in support of the resolution. “That might be personal stand of Rana Sahab but the party does not stand with that,” Lone said.

Later talking to reporters, Rasheed said the NC is playing differently to appease the people in Kashmir and Jammu. While Sagar like faces are exclusive for Kashmir, those like Rana are for Jammu. “There is a possibility of the next government being that of BJP and NC,” Rasheed said.
