Independent Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed Monday came up with a resolution against the celebration of autocrat ruler Hari Singh’s birthday in the lower house of the state legislature.
However, it was rejected after it found no takers in the house.
There has been a massive uproar over the passing of a resolution in the upper house of the assembly, to celebrate Hari Singh’s birthday as a holiday.
Rasheed said that opposition has been exposed as they disrupted house only to divert attention from the resolution.
“Devinder Rana and Omar Abdulla directed their party members to create a ruckus in the assembly so that my resolution does not get attention,” he said.
He questioned National Conference’s silence over the issue saying that, “NC can do anything to remain in power and this states that they don’t respect their leader Sheikh Abdullah.”
