Avalanche Kills Local Guide in Gulmarg, 3 Skiers Rescued

SRINAGAR

A local guide died and three skiers were trapped when they came under a snow avalanche in world famous ski resort Gulmarg on Wednesday.

The incident happened in the Affarwath heights of Gulmarg, police sources said adding the skiers were rescued.

They added that rescue operation was immediately started which helped in saving the three skiers.

Hotels in Gulmarg are being thoroughly checked  to see if anyone else was missing.

Police sources said that the man who died was a local skiing guide.

On January 24, a Swiss national died and five of his associates had to be rescued when an avalanche hit the resort between Kongdoori and Afferwath.
