SRINAGAR: Awantipora Police has registered its first-ever electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) following a complaint lodged via email.
The complaint was filed by Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, a resident of New Colony Khrew, against Adil Ahmad Bhat and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, both from the same locality. He alleged that the accused assaulted his entire family, causing injuries.
To support his complaint, Bhat submitted an outpatient department (OPD) ticket from PHC Khrew and a copy of his Aadhaar card as evidence.
After examining the complaint, the police took cognisance of the matter and formally registered an e-FIR under Case No. 17/2025 at Khrew Police Station, under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This development is a step towards digital policing, allowing citizens to file complaints remotely.
