A 26-year-old youth who has been injured in forces firing at Shopian succumbed at Srinagar hospital , reports said.

Identified as Mohammad Sayed Bhat s/o Ghulam Hassan of Zainpora, he was critically injured in firing by government forces in Shopian and was shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar for treatment. He later succumbed to his bullet injuries.

Police official confirmed the killing and said he was critically injured.

Locals said that Sayed was hit by bullet at around 1pm and alleged that while being taken to hospital the ambulance was stopped. One of the witness told Kashmir Life over phone that forces stopped ambulance and thrashed the people who were accompanying the injured. “Even Sayed was kicked which led to loss of blood,” he said.

This is the second civilian killing of the day. Earlier, a youth Owais Shafi Dar, son of Muhammad Shafi Dar was killed in pellet firing by paramilitary CRPF at Kakapora in Pulwama district.

The protests erupted against the killing of Hizb’s Commander Mohammad Yasin Itoo along with his two associates.
