The three militants killed in an overnight gunfight in Shopian have been identified, police officials said.
The trio are identified as Sheikh Irfan ul Haq, resident of Malldaira Shopian; Umar Majid Sheikh, resident of Kathpora Yaripora and Adil Ahmad Malik, resident of Malikgund Shopian.
In the gunfight two army men were also killed besides injuring four others. The slain have been identified as Sepoy Ilayaraja P of Tamil Nadu and Sepoy Gawai Sumedh Waman of Maharashtra.
During the operation, locals many time stried to save the militants.
After the news if death spread, intense clashes have been reported from the area in which over a dozen youth have been injured.
