Three militants and two army men were killed in a gunfight which raged on Saturday in Awneera village of Kashmir’s Southern district of Shopian, said police officials.
Taking on to twitter, DGP Dr S P Viad confirmed the killings of three militants and appreciated the role of forces.
“Today morning 3 Terrorists eliministed at Zainpora Shopian. Well done boys!”, he wrote on his twitter handle.
The police officials said that a combing operation is on at the site of encounter.
In the initial phase of firing two army men were killed and four others injured.
Pertinently acting on a tip off, 55 RR of Army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday launched cordon in the village and reports said militants opened fire resulting in the gun battle.
