After brief lull in Awoora Pahalgam where encounter is going on between forces and militants, heavy shelling is being reported from the spot.

The reports suggest that at arround 11 pm, loud bangs started to reverberate from the spot, the locals informed.

On Sunday evening encounter broke out  in the Awoora village, that is surrounded by the dense forest cover, here in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir.

Joint forces from Army’s 3 RR and SOG laid seige around single story building where the militants were suspected to be hiding. Soon heavy firing started, raging into an encounter.

Confirming the source of loud bangs, army sources told Kashmir Life that IED blasting was done at the site
However the officials denied any further information.

Locals say that, protesters, including men and women are still clashing with the forces , trying to break the cordon.

Heaven teargas shelling is going on and it is suffocating even inside, a local told Kashmir Life.

There are reports that two to three local militants, hailing from Bijbehara area, are trapped inside, but forces denied any such information yet.

“We cannot say how many militants are inside and nor can we ascertain their identity,” a police official said. The clear details can be given in morning only, he added,
