SRINAGAR: As Ghulam Nabi Azad landed in Jammu for the possible launch of his party within a few days, Congress Spokesman in Delhi termed better participation in the party’s Leh meeting to his desertion from the party.

“Overwhelming response at Indus Convention Center, Choglamsar, UT Ladak, by Ladakh TCC,” Rajni Patil captioned her group photograph with the participants at her Leh meeting. Jairam Ramesh shared the tweet, with a comment: “And this is after Azad’s flight to BJP. Great going.”

Azad has landed in Jammu. Reports suggest that he will be launching his party in the next couple of days. Sources close to Azad have told reporters that they have finalised the name of the party and the flag. It is a matter of days before it is formally made public, they said.

Congress: A History In Decline

Before flying to Srinagar on September 27, Azad is having two meetings with his still-unnamed party leaders and the second rung of it.

Even though Azad has walked away with most of the party leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress party continues to prick him for leaving the party after putting in 53 years and enjoying power throughout. The last time when he resigned from the party, Jairam said “GNA’s DNA has been ‘Modi-fied’.

In this response, Azad said Jiaram survives by his tweets. “All of a sudden by doing these tweets, we saw him becoming an MP, becoming a cabinet minister,” he told in an interview, asserting that he is “planting stories 24 x 7”.

Last week when Congress candidates won from a Leh Council berth in a by-election by 273 votes, Jairam tweeted: “Here is some breaking news for Modi, Shah and Azad. The Congress party has defeated the BJP by a convincing margin in the Temisgam bye-election to the Ladakh Hill Council. Congratulations to the Ladakh District Congress Committee! (sic).”

Jairam Ramesh wrote in another post. As per the PTI report, the party won by 273 votes.
