SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have recovered a bag containing medicines and eatables from near Palmaidan in Doodhpathri, where Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Hashim Moosa was killed in an encounter with security forces on September 29.
Police said the recovered items are suspected to have been intended for the use of the slain militant and could provide leads in the ongoing investigation into his presence in the area and the network that may have provided him logistical support.
The recovery was made on October 4 from the vicinity of the encounter site and is being examined as part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Moosa’s presence there.
Budgam Police are investigating the origin of the recovered items, how they reached the location and whether any overground workers, co-conspirators or other associates were involved in providing logistical support.
The encounter took place on September 29 following a coordinated operation by security forces based on intelligence inputs.
Police said the recovery is part of the continuing investigation into FIR No. 181/2026 registered at Police Station Khansahib under relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway to establish the role of individuals allegedly linked to the suspected support network.
