Ban Cricket Ties with Pakistan, Says Satish Sharma

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Minister Satish Sharma on Tuesday strongly opposed sporting engagements with Pakistan, saying India should completely stop playing with a country that, according to him, does not respect India’s sacrifices and continues hostile actions.

Speaking to reporters outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly complex, Sharma said any form of sporting engagement with Pakistan must be banned.

“It should be banned. Why are we even naming that country? India’s stature is far greater, and playing with Pakistan must be stopped,” Sharma said.

He accused Pakistan of showing no respect towards Indian soldiers and martyrs. “Those who do not honour our armed forces and insult our martyrs do not deserve any engagement from us,” he said.

Without mincing words, the minister said Pakistan’s actions have caused immense loss of life. “They are the same people who are killing our soldiers, carrying out attacks, and shedding blood. Many soldiers and civilians from Jammu and Kashmir have been martyred, and we all know this reality,” he added.

Sharma said peace cannot be built on misplaced goodwill. “Hatred cannot be defeated by pretending everything is normal. Respect those who stand for peace, but we must not engage with those who harm us day after day,” he said. (KNC)
